Welcome to Woodloes Primary School

Woodloes Primary School is a vibrant and welcoming two-form entry school that opened its doors in September 2009, following the successful amalgamation of the Junior and Infant Schools that had long served our local community. The construction of our new facilities, coupled with the thoughtful refurbishment of some existing accommodations, has resulted in an enriching environment that includes not only our educational spaces but also Saplings Pre-School, Oscars, Audiology services, and a Community Centre.

The extensive facilities at Woodloes are designed to provide children with a safe, secure, and stimulating environment conducive to learning. Our wonderful classrooms are complemented by fantastic outdoor play facilities, and perhaps most notably, we boast a dedicated Forest School area. This unique outdoor woodland space allows children to explore nature, engage fully with their surroundings, and use their imaginations in a safe and nurturing environment. The children delight in the experiences this space offers, fostering a love for the outdoors and promoting holistic development.

Furthermore, we are fortunate to be situated in close proximity to Evergreen School, with whom we have developed a strong partnership. This collaboration enables us to access the Eco-Project located on the Evergreen site, providing our children with exciting opportunities to work alongside their peers from Evergreen. Such experiences enrich the learning journey and deepen connections within our educational community.

Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) encompasses both Saplings and Reception classes, where we offer high-quality provision through a play-based curriculum. This approach ensures that all children receive the very best start as they embark on their primary education journey. Key Stage 1 builds upon this successful foundation, as children develop their skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. Our broad and balanced curriculum encourages investigative skills in science and foundation subjects, fostering confident and capable learners who thrive during their time in Key Stage 1.

As our children transition into Key Stage 2, we continue to nurture their independence, enabling them to broaden their skills and knowledge further. They take great pride in sharing their enthusiasm for learning during assemblies that our parents are always keen to attend. We value close partnerships with families and work diligently to support our children’s learning at home. Our half-termly Celebration of Learning events provide precious opportunities for parents to engage with their children’s work, celebrating progress together.

At Woodloes, we hold the highest expectations for our children as learners. We strive to ensure that every student is motivated to work to the best of their ability, reaching for their full potential.

One of the defining characteristics of Woodloes Primary School is not only what we do but also how we do it. Our school is characterised by a caring ethos that permeates every aspect of our operations. We approach our work with a sense of fun, excitement, and pride in our collective achievements. Recognising the importance of collaboration, we actively seek to build effective partnerships, sharing ideas and resources to develop a stronger and more effective educational system. Ultimately, our goal is to enhance the life chances of every child in our care.

We invite you to explore all that Woodloes Primary School has to offer, and we look forward to welcoming you into our learning community.
