Who We Are
OSCAR stands for Out of School Care and Recreation.
We are registered with Ofsted, through Woodloes Primary School, to care for up to 45 children before and after school during term time. We operate on a ratio of one adult for every eight children, and not exceeding 1:10, and there will always be a minimum of two members of staff on duty – even when there is only one child in the Club.
Aims
It is the main aim of OSCAR to provide care and recreation , outside of normal school hours, during term time, for any child attending Woodloes Primary School (Reception to Year 6 inclusive) subject to the availability of a place.
This is an Out-of-School Provision, with recreational activities led by children, managed by adults. We offer a range of activities, indoors and out, based on arts and crafts, games, toys, puzzles and physical activities. These activities change regularly, and are closely supervised by staff, encouraging social play and interaction. We pride ourselves on being well resourced, and are lucky enough to have our own room, with use of the practical area in Year Three, the Small Hall and the full range of outside facilities. We also have use of the Adventure Playground, which was purpose built and completed in the summer of 2011.
Practical Arrangements
OSCAR opens at 7.30am each school morning. Children may arrive at any time between 7.30 and 8.30.Breakfast is offered between 7.45 and 8.15, which is included in the price of the session. Children from Reception, Years One and Two are escorted by Staff to their classes in time for the opening of school at 8.45 a.m. Children from Key Stage Two walk independently to class at the start of school.
Child Care is provided after School until 6.00p.m. This is divided into three blocks of time, for ease of administration and charging purposes – i.e. up to 4.00 p.m./ up to 5.00 p.m. / up to 6.00 p.m.
We collect children directly from their classes in Reception, Years One and Two. Children in Key Stage Two walk independently to the Club when School is over. Children can be collected at any time between 3.30 and 6.00 p.m. but charging is based on the three time blocks.
Children staying beyond 4.00 p.m are offered Tea, between 4.15 and 4.45 p.m. included in the price of the session.
