Our Approach

At Woodloes Primary School, we take the safeguarding of children very seriously, recognising that it is a fundamental aspect of our duty of care. All staff are acutely aware of their statutory responsibility to keep children safe and supported. Our school is steadfastly committed to actively working to safeguard all pupils, fostering an environment where their wellbeing is paramount.

We adhere to the processes and systems outlined in our CAT Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, specifically tailored for Warwickshire schools. This comprehensive policy is readily accessible in the policies section of our website for parents, staff, and stakeholders to review. It is the responsibility of all members of our community to remain vigilant, notice any signs of concern, and engage in open discussions regarding the welfare of the children in our care.

To ensure effective record-keeping of any incidents or concerns, Woodloes Primary School employs the CPOMS system. All staff members have access to this invaluable tool and receive training to utilise it to its utmost potential. Staff are instructed to document any concerns using the Reporting a Concern feature, which promptly alerts the lead Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). After reviewing the reported concern, the lead DSL takes appropriate action and allocates the matter to the relevant Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSL).

DSLs convene on a fortnightly basis to monitor and analyse all recorded incidents, thus identifying patterns and creating a comprehensive understanding of trends over time. If necessary, these incidents are communicated to the Front Door for professional guidance. Safeguarding matters are reported to the School Standards Committee on a termly basis, ensuring ongoing scrutiny and transparency.

We encourage parents and carers to share any concerns or queries they may have. Additional information on safeguarding practices can be accessed via the Warwickshire Safeguarding Children Board website. In addition, all staff members are required to complete Child Protection Training annually, reinforcing our commitment to the safety and welfare of all children within our care.
